Subject Description

Teacher in Charge: Miss M. Clarke

This course at level one is intended for students who work best with internal standards and supported learning. The learning environment and pace of the course are intended to improve successful outcomes for students who have previously found learning challenging. The course takes the place of English, Math and Social Studies and is an integrated approach to learning. Students gain their credits in literacy and numeracy level one and in other practical units that include employment, financial capability, society and well-being. Students will select three other options only when taking this course. This course is a units standards course and runs for 12 hours a week.

Recommended Prior Learning

The course is for students who have struggled with year ten literacy and numeracy and are not achievement standard ready. The course also suits year 12 students who have not achieved literacy and numeracy at level one and respond to a smaller, quieter classroom environment. This is also a course for students who are leaving after level one and need some practical skills as well as literacy and numeracy credits to gain entry level into the workforce or courses.
