Subject Description

The main student focus is individual and family based.
The students will gain knowledge and skills in:
- Evaluating specific dietary needs of individuals.
- Developing understanding on how packaging influences individual's food choices (External component)
- Gaining an understanding of societal influences on individual's food choices and well-being
This course will also include 2 unit standards covering:
- Fruits and Vegetables
- Frying and Grilling
This still enables students to achieve a subject endorsement.

Recommended Prior Learning
Completing the Food Technology course at Year 10 is recommended as it provides the students with the necessary base knowledge and terminology. This gives them a good head start.

16 credits is internally assessed with a mixture of Unit and Achievement Standards. 4 credits are externally assessed in the form of an end of the year exam.Pathway
