Level 2 Childcare
Subject Description

We are pleased to be offering Level 2 Childcare as a full academic program in 2025.
Students in this class have the opportunity to earn up to 19 Level 2 credits in Childcare.
Some of the themes/topics we will cover are:
- Protecting the Health and Wellbeing of Young Children
- Identifying Patterns of Learning and Development in Young Children
- The Benefits of Play Based Learning
- Building Positive Relationships with Young People
During this course we will also connect with local preschools and kura to have real life experiences teaching the littlest learners in our Riccarton Community.

- The first 1000 days
- First food and nutrition
- The importance of play
- Practical childcare experience
Recommended Prior Learning
A real interest in working with young children.

Pathway
This course provides a great natural pathway for anyone wishing to learn Level 3 Childcare, full time at ARA.
The skills taught in this subject would also be useful to anyone wishing to head into a career working with young people, or to perhaps have children of their own.
