Level 2 Physics
Subject Description

This course is for those students who want to build on their interest and knowledge gained from Physics component in the 1SCI or 1SCO courses. It focuses on Mechanics (including forces, projectile and circular motion), Electricity (static, dc circuits and electromagnetism), Waves, Atoms and the practical skills needed to carry out a Physics investigation. The students can take P2.2 OR P2.5, but not both.
(It is suggested that the student will take a level 2 Mathematics course in 2023 if they are looking at studying level 3 Physics in 2024.)
This course provides a foundation for further study at tertiary level in fields such as Physics, Health Science, Architecture and Engineering.
Recommended Prior Learning
12 credits in NCEA Level 1 Science which should include an achieved grade in a Physics Standard (Science 1.1 or Physics 1.1) and NCEA Level 1 Mathematics, or by consultation with Ms Napier.
