Year 13 Gateway

Gateway aims to build students’ skills for employment, working in real workplaces on real tasks. It gives opportunities to try out potential careers and build links to Industry Training Organisations, NZ Apprenticeships and workplaces. It is a ‘hands on’ practical course. Students will complete the compulsory units of Workplace Safety, First Aid, experience ‘taster days’, and then will work on their own personalised Gateway programme. Students are required to complete 16 days work placement. Applications and interviews with students, parents and employers are an important part of the Gateway programme.
