Computer Aided Design and 3D Modelling

Subject Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr S. Leary.

Students learn how to create 3D digital models using programs such as Fusion360, SketchUp, 3DS Max, Blender and ArchiCAD. Students work on projects in their area of interest to develop their skills and produce product and architectural designs, 3D printed models, laser cut and engraved outcomes or resources for 3D games. This course leads to careers in CAD drafting for engineering and architecture industries, 3D animation, graphic and gaming design. Content covered includes:

  • multiple component modelling
  • rendering and visualisation output
  • animation and fly through creation
  • working drawing and presentation creation
  • computer aided manufacturing (CAM) with 3D printing and laser cutting/engraving

This course is recommended to DVC and Design Technology students to support their learning.
