Improvisation and Public Speaking

Subject Description

One of the most common fears that people have in the world is speaking in public. Let’s conquer it. This is an elective course which would focus on the practical life skills that Drama provides, without a focus on theatre or acting. The physical components of public speaking effectively, how to command a room and how to become more flexible and adaptive in your thinking. Whether it be to assist those with aspirations of leadership at the kura/in their professions, supporting students with Manu Kōrero, gaining confidence to speak on the paepae or just learning enough skills that they could speak at their friend’s 21st. This elective is for thespians and introverts alike and focuses on building your confidence in these forms.
