Design Technology is a practical subject for students who are creative and experimental in their approach to learning. Design projects are student led which means student develop design outcomes that satisfy the needs of the end user. There are several small design challenges to complete that introduces students to a wide range of power tools, machinery and processes. The final project is entirely of the students choosing. The extent of customisation of student projects is only restricted by the student's imagination and inquiry process as they develop and refine their concept ideas. The skills, workflow and literacy requirements learnt at Year 10 provides a solid foundation for senior Design Technology courses. The course is run in a workshop where students can fluidly move between design and making tasks as they develop their projects. Skills and knowledge learnt include:
