Level 3 Building and Construction

3BCN
Subject Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr S. Leary.

Recommended Prior Learning

Year 12 Building and Construction and/or Design Technology are recommended. Success in Year 11 Materials Technology is an advantage also.

Year 13 Building and Construction students continue to use the Building, Construction and Allied Trades Skills (BCATS) training organisation's assessment materials. The Level 3 Unit Standards do not specify particular projects, instead a project’s suitability is determined by its complexity and the ability to meet the Unit Standards’ outcomes at Level 3. This provides flexibility for students to choose projects according to their interests and circumstances. Students may choose to build a third option for the outdoor construction project. This and the student indoor project will be negotiated with the teacher.

Students who complete the course will be prepared for future study or training in a trade setting.

Currently this course contains 32 credits. Not all standards will be covered as each year standards offered may change depending on student preference and ability.
