Level 2 Economics
Subject Description
Teacher in Charge: Ms K. Browning.
Ever imagined yourself in business? Going global? Investing, trading in currencies, making millions? Then 2 Economics is the course for you! We look at the what, why, and how of major economic issues facing New Zealand: inflation, unemployment, trade, growth, government policies, and how they affect us all. By the end of this course you’ll even understand what our political parties are talking about, and if there's sufficient demand for a Commerce trip to Wellington you may get to see it in action. Better yet, you’ll be able to make informed decisions about your own political views - perfect timing, given we will have just been through an election!
Recommended Prior Learning
Literacy and Numeracy NCEA Level 1 are required - or approval must be given by Ms Browning. Please consult with her. Students who have taken Level 1 Economics will be at a significant advantage.
Approximate Costs and Equipment/Stationery
Optional field trip to Wellington - approx. $550.

Economics provides a great base knowledge for anyone who is thinking about getting into a career in Commerce, government policy, or even just understanding the way our economy works.
