Level 1 History

Subject Description

Teacher in Charge: Mr E. Campbell

"Those that fail to learn from history, are doomed to repeat it," said Winston Churchill. This course will introduce you to the study of History. This will be done by studying the past in the context of two topics. The first topic is 'Black Civil Rights in the USA, 1954 - 1970' where the dramatic struggle for freedom and equality by people of colour in the United States will be explored. The other has as its centrepiece the origins of the Second World War, the greatest and most destructive conflict in history. A study of the significance of the 1915 Gallipoli campaign will also be undertaken.

NOTE: Successful completion of this course will ensure you attain all the required literacy credits for NCEA Level 1.
