Term 1
In term one we explore new tools and concepts that allow us to create great projects. We look into:
- Trello (a kanban tool used for agile project management)
- Slack (business communication platform)
- Design Thinking for Innovation
We then take our tools, start the design thinking process and brainstorm concepts for a product/project. This is when we decide on individual standards that align with our aspirations. These may be, music videos, mini shows, workshops, events or maybe even a short movie.
Term 2
In term two we create. We will be testing ideas, making connections and asking for feedback from different audiences around our projects. We will have access to outsider knowledge and classroom workshops to build technique or choreography skills.
Term 3
In term three we are getting ready to present our final product to our target audience. There will be many different opportunities to display, implement, teach or perform. These may be outside of school time like DanceNZMade and Show Quest.
We also continue to finish off any NCEA requirements for our internal standards and start preparing to our external exams.
Term 4
In term four we reflect on the success and challenges of our projects. This allows for growth into next years dance course and also for future year levels.
Additional costs may apply to attend out of school performances.
Year 10 Dance is preferred.
This course is eligible for subject endorsement.
This course is approved for University Entrance.
